It finally happened!
I got my first ever hater.
And you know what? It feels like a milestone worth celebrating. Like a rite of passage. I guess I’ve officially joined the club? 🤓
Honestly, I figured this moment would eventually come. When I started sharing online, I understood that not everything would be sunshine and rainbows.
It’s just part of putting yourself out there. Not everyone is meant to like you, ya know 🤷🏻♀️
Here’s the thing about criticism: it means you’re stepping outside your comfort zone. If everyone agrees with you, it might be time to push some boundaries. The comment(s) I got was proof that I’m doing something right—creating content that makes people feel something. And that’s powerful.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that haters appear when you do something worth noticing.
So to all my readers: keep going.
Don’t let the fear of judgement stop you from whatever it is you want to do. The world needs what you have to offer, and no person can take that away from you.
While this is just my first experience with online hate, I know there’ll be plenty more down the road. So I put together a quick list to help future me stay grounded and focused when negativity starts to creep in.
✨ ASK YOURSELF: IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS?
I heard this on a podcast recently, and it really stuck with me. Instead of reacting emotionally, I ask if there’s any truth to what’s being said, or if it’s just noise. If it’s the latter, I allow myself to let. that. shit. go.
✨ TREAT IT LIKE A MILESTONE
Just like I’m sharing in this newsletter, getting my first hater is a sign that my work is reaching new people. It may not be the right audience, but hey it’s getting out there somehow. Keep going!
✨ SPREAD KINDNESS IN RETURN
Of course, a clap back would be totally iconic. But what does that really solve? Try taking a different approach when someone sends you negativity. Wish them well, thank them for commenting, or simply ignore them. Remember, kindness always wins in the end.
With all that said, a big thank you to that person for reminding me I’m on the right path. At the end of the day, we can’t control what people say, but we can always control how we respond. And my response is to keep creating, keep sharing, and keep spreading positivity 🫶🏼
"One thing I’ve learned on this journey: criticism happens no matter what. It is the price of admission to life. You can’t let that decide how your story will be told."
― Lewis Howes, The Greatness Mindset

So much truth! This is so silly but my go to way of handling negativity is putting on Shake it Off by Taylor Swift and literally dancing and shaking and singing.
**searches for comment** 🤭 actually it didn’t take long to find it haha I love this post and your perspective, considering it a milestone! Keep going! 💜
